Details of the Initiative
We are researching how to use electric vehicles to compensate for the shortcomings of renewable energy, which is rapidly growing in electric energy.
Electric energy needs to be balanced between generation and consumption, and we are facing a situation where we have to discard renewable energy that has been generated in surplus. On the other hand, electric vehicles are expected to become widely used in the future, and their batteries can be charged with surplus generated electric energy while they are parked and connected to home and electric power networks through electric plugs. They can also discharge their electric energy when needed. In this way, we believe that electric vehicles are an effective means of using renewable energy.
Therefore, the students are investigating the amount of time that vehicles are currently parked, and analyzing how many electric vehicles can charge and discharge electric energy at what time in the future. By creating programs and conducting simulations, they are trying to find the best way for electric vehicles to charge and discharge electric energy so that renewable energy does not need to be wasted.
Since it is difficult to accurately predict the amount of electricity generated by renewable energy, we plan to research charging and discharging methods that can be applied in such situations.
