Details of the Initiative

What do you usually do with plastic bottle caps? That small cap could help save a child’s life!

The Meiji University student volunteer group Tree has set up eco-cap collection boxes on campus and delivers collected caps to recycling collection services. Funds raised will support vaccine delivery to children in developing countries through the Japan Committee for Vaccine for the World’s Children (JCV). Furthermore, recycling caps reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

Recently, members delivered bags full of caps to a recycling collection service. This time, 192 kilograms of bottle caps (equivalent to 96 vaccine doses) were collected. The total collection has now reached 1,387 kilograms, enabling vaccine delivery for about 693 children!

Even if you are interested in the initiative, you may be wondering how to get involved. But it is easy.

(1) Remove the cap before disposing of your plastic bottle.
(2) Drop it into the collection box on Surugadai Campus.

Just by doing this, you can help protect someone’s future. “A small cap saves someone’s life.” With this in mind, we will continue enjoying our efforts to make a contribution to society. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
